Study and Teach Chinese Medicine Full-hearted---a Seminar on Prof. Li Ding’s Academic Thoughts The seminar on Professor Li Ding’s academic thoughts, as well as annual meeting of Literature Committee of Chinese Acupuncture Society will be held from November 13 to 15 in 2009 in our university. The meeting is organized by the Literature Committee of Chinese Acupuncture Society and Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and School of Acupuncture and Tuina of the university. Deputy secretary of the university, Mr. He Xinghai attended the meeting and made welcoming remarks on behalf of the school party and the leaders. Professor Li Weiheng, president of Chinese Acupuncture Society; Professor Huang Longxiang, chairman of the Literature Committee of Chinese Acupuncture Society and Professor Zhang Ren, president of Shanghai Acupuncture Society attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Professor Qiu Peiran, the State Medical Masters and the famous Chinese medical doctor in Shanghai, famous acupuncture scholar Professor Li Ding and Professor Chen Hanping was invited to the meeting, assembly by Prof. Chu Lixi, Dean of School of Acupuncture and Tuina. In the report at the opening ceremony, deputy secretary He Xinghai pointed out: "For more than 50 years, Mr. Li Ding had witnessed the hard development of the higher education of TCM and acupuncture, and his academic thoughts gave positive influence and guidance to the latecomers of acupuncture. We should take this seminar as an opportunity to go deeper in the discussion on his thoughts, inherit his spirit of diligent work and his passion for Chinese medicine and make our own contributions to a beautiful future. " Twelve-theme academic reports were made around Professor Li Ding’s academic thoughts on the meeting. Professor Huang Longxiang at Acupuncture Institute of China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine did a report entitled "literature studying - pushing hands on the progress of acupuncture". Professor Huang praised Mr. Li Ding’s important contribution to research in acupuncture literature and explained the important role of literature studying in the development of acupuncture and moxibustion. Professor Chen Hanping in Shanghai Acupuncture and Meridian Research Center pointed out that from the perspective of acupuncture clinical research that we should "lead acupuncture clinical with advanced culture”, causing strong echo from the audience. As the inheritor of Professor Li Ding, Professor Xu Ping at School of Acupuncture and Tuina, detailed "Professor Li Ding’s contribution to the theory of meridians and acupoints” from the aspect of meridians and acupoints theoretical researches. The report selected some long-term existed questions of acupuncture and moxibustion, such as the timely relationship between "Lingshu" and "Suwen", relationship between "qi blood" and "blood qi", the revolution from “eleven meridians" to "twelve meridians” and so on, telling us that Professor Li Ding had clarified the long-term existed vague theoretical concepts in acupuncture and moxibustion. In addition, some of Prof. Li’s students across the country who are in important positions in the field of teaching and researching have also come to the meeting. They are Hu Ling, Dean of Acupuncture Clinical School in Anhui School of Traditional Chinese Medicine ; Professor Gao Xiyan, academic leader of Acupuncture in Henan School of Chinese Medicine; Sun Shujian (Japan), visiting professor at Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Having learned from Professor Li Ding, they have recalled Professor Li Ding rigorous attitude toward academic and his professionalism, which reflected the noble quality and profound knowledge of Professor Li from different angles . The meeting also received congratulatory letters from the University of Chinese Medicine in Beijing, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Chengdu, Shandong, Hunan, Tianjin and other regions. Hundreds of people from Chinese Acupuncture Society, Chinese Acupuncture Literature Committee, Acupuncture Institute of China Academy of TCM, Shanghai Acupuncture and Meridian Research Center, Shanghai Qigong Institute and Shanghai Massage Institute and Prof. Li’s students all over the world attended the meeting. The success of the meeting is of great significance to inheriting and carrying forward the academic thought of Professor Li Ding and the further promotion of the development of acupuncture, a good summary of the heritage work, and a useful measure of the construction of undergraduate education center. |
