Raising of Scientific Thinking to a Higher Level in Muti-subjects Area

--Thoughts of Visiting Term in SJTU

I was fortunate to be able to study in Shanghai Jiaotong University as a domestic visiting scholar for one year, and it made me very exciting. Shanghai Jiaotong University, founded in 1896, has a long history, profound academic atmosphere for centuries, and there are lots of brilliant, talented people and actually it is a great university.

I study in the nerve bioengineering laboratory of Shanghai Jiaotong University Med-X Institute this visiting term and I was under the tutelage of Professor Tong Shanbao of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering.

Med-X research Institute is a scientific research educational institution of medicine and other subjects. Now with the rapid development of science and technology, multidisciplinary can better promote innovation of biomedical science and technology. I have engaged in professional experimental acupuncture science, which is an interdisciplinary combined with traditional acupuncture medicine and modern science. And this platform of medicine and interdisciplinary has a profound significance to my profession. My supervisor Professor Tong Shanbao is the post doctor of American Johns Hopkins School of Medicine neurophysiological profession and also the deputy editor of the international top magazine in the field of rehabilitation engineering IEEE. And the techniques of nerve optical imaging technology and the nerve signal analysis techniques lead by his Bioengineering Laboratory reach the advanced level in the world.

During my visiting term, professor Tong gave me a lot of inspiration and guidance on my direction of my research and research methods. He taught me the importance to put forward a scientific issue, and the necessity of documents survey I should do to ensure the feasibility of my research. The research way, like having the laboratory weekly group meeting, references research, research progress reporting, offers me great help in the form of a good research habit. I mastered the methods of the laboratory rat cortical vascular laser speckle imaging technology, MATLAB software records and analysis of cerebral blood flow conditions and so on. I promptly combined what I have learned in the lab with my acupuncture profession and did my great effort to write the bid document of "electroacupuncture pretreatment reduce ischemic brain damage in the experimental study of cerebral blood flow” and finally win the bidding of 2012 Shanghai Education Commission budget research projects. From January to March 2012, during the declaration of the National Natural Science Foundation, Professor Tong was very patient to help me analyze scientific problems and modify the bid document. Both the professional knowledge or the lofty ethics and professional spirit of Professor Tong will benefit me throughout my life.

Through this one-year study, my Professional Competence and mixed ability has raised to a higher level, which will play a profound impact on my future work and learning. Being gratitude for the source of benefit, I am grateful for the trust and development of our university and my School to give me the opportunities to constantly upgrade myself. I will spare no effort to go to work with this grateful heart and to donate meager strength to the education for our TCM.
