No National Boundaries in Medicine―Thoughts of Visiting Term in Kawasaki Gakuen Time flies, the six-month Visiting Term has ended. Enumerating the six months’ studying, observation and comprehension, study abroad made me being emotional. Kawasaki Gakuen is very popular in Japanese medical domain and I am very honored to study here. Kawasaki Gakuen had historical relationship with China. The first chairman Kawasaki Yuxuan was received by Chairman Mao, Premier Zhou Enlai and other national leaders. There was the photo of that year in memorial auditorium and next to the photo having some words of him, roughly meaning: “Japan gets countless grace form China in the cultural aspects during 2000 years, but Japan still launched the war of aggression. Japan should repay a debt owed ??by that war in different occasions. Kawasaki Gakuen would give a hand of friendship though medicine circles to deep Sino-Japanese friendship.” The contact between Kawasaki Gakuen and our university began from 1983, which was linked by Shanghai Municipal Health Bureau and two universities signed friendly inter-university relations Agreement 1984. The two universities have exchange visits and Japanese side to receive the teachers of SUTCM to have advanced study and training and mainly the summer camps visiting. The pine tree in front of The Institute of International Education is a symbol of friendship between the two universities. The affiliated institutions of Kawasaki Gakuen include Kawasaki Medical School, Kawasaki University of Medical Welfare, Kawasaki Rehabilitation Institute and other educational institutions. Kawasaki Gakuen has two affiliated hospitals Kawasaki Medical School Affiliated Hospital and Kawasaki disease hospital. The Asahikawa Chuang is also a part of Kawasaki Gakuen, and it mainly take Japanese elderly people of no family, deformed children and people who cannot take care of themselves. The concept of social well-being, the hotel-style services and equipping high-end medical treatment impresses me a lot. I mainly have an advanced study of rehabilitation major in Kawasaki University of Medical Welfare and Kawasaki Medical University Hospital. The concept of happiness, profit, welfare of the well-being touched me deeply. And I have experienced the difference between the treatment and service under this concept and the circumstances in our nation. The two-month theoretical study and four-month clinical training let me have a certain understanding of rehabilitation with acupuncture and found the point of integration. Take stroke as an example, "rehabilitation" treatment use orthosis, walkers and other means to solve the problem of patient's foot varus which is a difficult part of acupuncture and tuina treatment. Of course, the function of analgesia of acupuncture and tuina can also raise the effect of improving rehabilitation. The aging of the global population is an important social issue of countries in the 21st century. The population of China's future development will be based on the severe population aging and the demographic dividend will gradually disappear. China, as a developing country, the aging rate is twice more than that of developed countries and is "being old before being rich”. Aging society tends to bring about greater social pressure. Care for the elderly, health care and other issues, has also showing the increasingly grim state. According to statistics, China's elderly people, who are over the age of 60, accounted for 14% of the population and they spend 40% of the total medical resources, and among them the cerebral vascular diseases and bone and joint diseases occupy a large part. We can take advantage of rehabilitation medicine and at the same time play the advantages of acupuncture and tuina, to improve the quality of patients’ life of the cerebral vascular diseases and bone and joint diseases, and reduce the rate of hospitalization of patients, shortern the days to stay in the hospital and so that we can reduce a series of problems like caring and curing. I believe that acupuncture will play an important role in the effective use of limited medical resources. Finally, thank SUTCM and Kawasaki Gakuen to provide me this precious opportunity to study abroad, which will be a valuable wealth in my life. I will try to use what I have learnt in Kawasaki Gakuen into my future work and achieve the dream of being a qualified medical education worker. Ju ziyong |
